July 2020: What to Know Before Visiting Waikiki Beach Walk®

July 13, 2020

While it is difficult to predict where the current situation will take us, we remain cautious yet optimistic as more Hawaii businesses have been allowed to reopen. Our top priority will always be the safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees, and Waikiki Beach Walk® is taking the necessary precautions to create a safer, cleaner atmosphere. Before stopping by, take a look at what’s new and what’s changed.

Added Safety Measures

In compliance with the government mandate, face coverings are required while at Waikiki Beach Walk®. We have also installed hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the premises for your convenience. In consideration of others, we ask all guests to maintain a social distance of 6 feet while exploring.

Now Open at Waikiki Beach Walk®

The shopping center’s temporary operating hours are from 11 AM to 9 PM daily, though we recommend checking with businesses directly for the latest updates. Click here for a complete list of open retailers and restaurants as of 07/13/2020. All open retail stores—including Noa Noa, a boutique carrying tapa designs from around the Pacific, and HiLife, a well-established shop selling Hawaii apparel and accessories—have safe shopping measures in place.

At Breakout Waikiki, the following new protocols have been implemented to ensure worry-free escape room sessions.
  • All escape rooms will be private experiences, meaning you will only share an escape room with the friends and family invited to play with you. Shared rooms have been eliminated until further notice.
  • Game Guides will be disinfecting rooms between every single game and there is more cleaning time between games to allow for additional sanitization measures.
  • Hand sanitizer is available to all. Free gloves will be provided to guests upon request.
  • Game Guides will practice social distancing as recommended by the CDC. Guests can expect to communicate with staff primarily through a computer placed in each escape room to minimize face-to-face contact.
  • Game Guides will be screened for symptoms prior to working. Staff members will also wear masks and gloves during shifts.

Want to get outside instead? With weather this perfect, every day is a beautiful day to hit the beach. Big Wave Dave is offering private surf lessons as well as board and beach rentals by appointment.

As far as restaurant options, Taormina Sicilian Cuisine has restarted dine-in service in addition to takeout and delivery should you wish to indulge in elegant Italian fare from the comfort of your own space. If you’re craving succulent USDA Prime steaks and fresh seafood, Ruth’s Chris Steak House has also reopened its dining room while still offering takeout and delivery with convenient curbside pickup. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Ku Ha'aheo Live Stream to Continue

While Waikiki Beach Walk® is known as a popular spot to catch live Hawaiian music and hula performances, the circumstances have prevented us from gathering in person to enjoy this magical part of our local culture. In order to continue sharing the musical stylings of Hawaii with the world, our weekly Ku Ha'aheo series has been moved online to the Waikiki Beach Walk® Facebook and Instagram accounts in the form of a live stream every Tuesday evening.

Hosted by the shopping center’s cultural director and kumu hula, Blaine Kamalani Kia, the live stream features classic tunes as well as performances by adult and keiki (child) hula dancers that blend contemporary and traditional elements to tell the traditions, stories, and history of Hawaii.

When: Tuesdays 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
