Waikiki SPAM® Jam Returns with a VERY SPECIAL EVENT at Waikiki Beach Walk
Ah, Spring. A season of rebirth and fresh starts. Longer days and warmer weather.
It’s also a time for the Waikiki SPAM® Jam with a twist. After a two-year hiatus, the Waikiki SPAM® Jam is returning to Waikiki, with three smaller scale events at Waikiki Beach Walk, International Marketplace and Royal Hawaiian Center. From April 22 through May 1, nearly 30 Waikiki restaurants will feature a wide variety of creative SPAM® dishes. Check out
spamjamhawaii.com for all the details.
Waikiki Beach Walk will be playing a major part in the festivities. Like, launching the whole thing on Saturday, April 23.
Everything about it will be exciting and fun!
There will be a
star-studded roster of top-name live entertainment and personal appearances by SPAMMY (seen above, looking for a ball of rice and some seaweed) and MUSU …the loveable SPAM® mascots that will delight the keiki.
Collectible SPAM® Jam memorabilia will be on sale, along with SPAM® T-shirts and other logo items, and of course, there will be plenty of options for dining at Waikiki Beach Walk. Some of which will include some extremely imaginative uses of SPAM®
PLENTY OF SPAMALICIOUS™ FOOD - AND DRINK! - AT THE 2022 WAIKIKI SPAM® JAM
Giovanni Pastrami's SPAM® Loco Moco
See the little “TM” next to Spamalicious™? That means it’s actually a word. Maybe not in Websters Dictionary, but certainly by the fine folks who make SPAM®, as they have trademarked and registered the word.
And we get to use it here.
Why? Because the 2022 Waikiki SPAM® Jam at Waikiki Beach Walk will feature fabulous culinary creations using SPAM® that are so mouthwatering delicious, they qualify to earn the distinction of being Spamalicious™.
To start with, Musubi Café Iyasume will have a booth selling several of their most popular SPAM musubi items, and popular Waikiki Beach Walk restaurants Giovanni Pastrami and Poke Bar will both feature some imaginative and unique menu items with SPAM®.
First up,
Musubi Café Iyasume, and five of their most popular SPAM musubi:
- Teriyaki SPAM®
- Egg SPAM®
- Avocado Bacon Egg SPAM®
- Takuan SPAM®
At
Giovanni Pastrami, co-owner and general manger (and kitchen whiz) Leland Asato had some divine inspiration and came up with two delectable treats specifically tailored for the local crowd. So enjoy either and automatically become a kama’aina:
SPAM® Katsu Loco Moco (as seen above)
Two scoops rice and grilled onions, smothered in brown gravy and topped with 6 oz. of SPAM® katsu; add 3 eggs cooked to order and scallions.
Teri Miso SPAM® Katsu Sandwich
Four ounces of teriyaki-miso SPAM® katsu on a grilled brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. Served with fries.

The
Poke Bar at Waikiki Beach Walk “gets SPAMMY with it” with the very special SPAM® Poke Bowl, which features cubed, fried and then soy coated sauteed SPAM® (and for a little added dash of deliciousness, a light coat of special Tsuyu for a touch of teriyaki flavor) as a protein choice. We’re going to trot out the word Spamalicious™ for this one. Along with “fresh.”

If you happen to be THIRSTY for SPAM®, don’t fret (or call a doctor), because the
Pakini Bar at Embassy Suites is ready to quench that unique desire, by putting some sweet meat into a couple of classic cocktails, creating two new classics: The SPAM®-arita and the SPAM® Mary!

And of course, the Waikiki Beach Walk
ABC Store will be well-stocked with ‘planny cans of SPAM® along with having their most popular SPAM® musubi ready for quick consumption.
