It’s been quite a year, so you deserve to treat yourself in the final days of it. And good old fashioned feasting is one of the best ways to do that.

Fortunately, Waikiki Beach Walk has some of the best dining options in Waikiki, and all are standing by to indulge you, from the light and refreshing to the fun and boisterous, all the way to a full and luxurious banquet.

So grab your appetite and let yourself go. And you’ll be forgiven if you stretch your feasting into the new year. With these sumptuous dining options, resolutions can wait.

LET’S START ON THE LIGHT SIDE

Every morning at 5:30 a.m., the bell rings on the Honolulu fish auction and the top restaurants and purveyors in Hawaii start to bid on the fresh ahi (tuna) that has been unloaded, inspected and graded just a few hours before. It’s the only fresh tuna auction in America.

That’s where and when the Poke Bar is making their daily selections for their menu, which as confirmed by their name, features the best poke bowls in Waikiki. (In Hawaiian, “poke” [pronounced “POH-kay”] is a delectable mix of fresh, firm and uncooked ahi marinated in a mouth-watering collection of spices and sauces).

Not only does the Poke Bar poke bowls feature the freshest, hand selected ahi, but they are made to order exactly how you want it, customized with fresh and bold flavors of a seemingly endless choice of toppings, proteins, and mix-ins.

The ultimate creation is ready for a quick, healthy and refreshing al fresco meal in their charming sidewalk café setting, or prepped to go to enjoy at the beach.

Which taken altogether represents the ultimate in indulgence.

MOVING ON TO THE FUN SIDE

It’s generally accepted that having fun makes you happy, and therefore it’s logical that the reverse is true: Being happy is fun. The proof is at Giovanni Pastrami Pizzeria & Sports Bar.

Because in the world of happy hours, there are your run of the mill Happy Hours, and then there are Happy Hours with Waikiki’s best pizza.

Which means if you happen to like pizza, means it’s Giovanni Pastrami Pizzeria & Sports Bar has the best Happy Hour in Waikiki.

However, along with Roundtable Pizza, considered to be the best pizza in Waikiki, Giovanni Pastrami has superb specials on select appetizers and personal pizzas (which we’ll say it again: it’s the best pizza in Waikiki), along with $2 off bottled beer, glasses of wine and pints of draft beer (with a choice of 20 taps), and a whopping $5 off pitchers and bottles of wine.

There are also 20 big screens for watching sports and live music, which makes Giovanni Pastrami one the most welcoming and cheerful environments to be joyously happy ...even without Giovanni Pastrami’s fabulous pizza. Did we mention it is Waikiki’s best?

WHEN YOU WANT SOMETHING TRULY SPECIAL

RoysWaikiki-(1).jpg
To be special takes creativity. And when you think of creativity in cuisine, you naturally think of Roy Yamaguchi, the James Beard Award-winning namesake of Roy’s.

Chef Roy, as many know, was a leading proponent of a group of esteemed Hawaii chefs who created Pacific Rim Cuisine, which emphasized the use of locally grown products and flung open the doors of amazing fusions of international cuisine.

In Roy’s case, it was by melding French methods with vibrant Pacific Rim flavors, but most importantly,  a constant development of new, creative Hawaiian fusion dishes and cocktails that continue to expand culinary boundaries.

So for a memorable meal to mark the passing year ...a year that finds you in the paradise of Hawaii... calls for nothing less than a remarkable creation from one of the world’s renowned chefs.

Pro Tip: There’s enough creativity here to warrant multiple visits.

AND FINALLY, THE ULTIMATE IN FINE DINING

WaikikisBestSteakHouse-(1).jpg
When people think of fine dining, many think of Ruth’s Chris Steak House. And it’s not just it’s soft and exquisite white linen and weighted silverware setting (with a candlelit outdoor option overlooking the Waikiki Beach Walk’s lovely, torchlit plaza).

Ruth’s Chris patented and luscious preparation for steaks, basted in butter and sizzling on a 500-degree plate, puts it at the top of many “Best of” lists, and makes Ruth’s Chris synonymous with culinary mastery.

Simply put, it’s fine dining at it’s... well, finest.  And the perfect way to treat yourself at the end of a long year.
